About the Richmond Junior Football Club

The Richmond Junior Football Club was first put into place by football Legend Kevin Sheedy when he was the development officer for Richmond Football Club in 1973. Since that time the club has won 17 premierships but more so thousands of local kids have gone through the program which has included  Auskick that has provided many players for the club.

We have had many long serving members, who incidently some of them are still with the club, current President Jeff Rudland (26 years), Secretary/Manager Les Quarrell (19 years), Under 13 Coach Phil Ballis (20 odd years ) Hayley Rudland (15 years), are all still here and former president Terry Shaw (28 years) was the longest serving member until he sadly passed away 2 years ago when still president.

As stated earlier plenty of outstanding footballers have played at the club, the most notable being Thomas Roach who played for Richmond in the AFL. Other notable players still playing very well include Steve Ward (Ivanhoe VAFA), Mark Tasiyan, (St Kilda City, Southern Football League), Kris Bardon (Vermont, Eastern Football League), Mark Mott (Doveton, Mornington  Peninsula Football League), Ashley Bardon (West Preston, Northern Football League) Corey Brady (Sth Yarra, Southern Football League.

Until 1996 the club played in the Hawthorn District Junior Football League with most clubs around Hawthorn and the surrounding area. With the amalgamation of the Hawthorn District Football League and the Doncaster District Football League in 1996 it became the Yarra Junior Football League as it is today. The greatest benefit compared to the old league, has poroven to be GRADED football which is an outstanding success in this league and gives clubs and players every chance in their level of football.

So as you can see RJFC has now a reasonable history, and hopefully it can continue on for many years to come.
