Auskick in 2018

Auskick has returned for 2018, with over 100 budding players at Citizens Park every Saturday morning.

Auskick has had a revamp at the AFL end, with Auskick 2.0 launched, which has given more structure and guidance on how sessions are run. We now have 4 groups in 4 grids – one for Kinder, Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 – and all are running through a series of activities and games each week. Early feedback is everybody is enjoying the new approach and kids are spending more time playing and developing skills. Some things never change and the shout of “lollipop, lollipop” still goes up at the end of the session.

We have already had an early season win, with 12 lucky Auskickers playing at the season opener. Their deeds inspired the Tiges to continue the Premiership form against Carlton.

The sessions are being supported by parents and players, with U13 to U15 players helping run the sessions and a few coaches from the club dropping in. We are always looking for more help and if you have a few hours free on a Saturday morning, drop Peter Tuckwell or Nick Somes a line at auskickrichmond@gmail.com. A special thanks to Craig, Bomber and Mick who have helped us set up the season.
