The Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS), located on the Hill in Richmond, gives indigenous students from remote communities, who have an ability and desire to be educated in Melbourne, the academic and social support to meet the challenges of transition for their first year in Melbourne.
RJFC and the MITS have established a strong partnership over a number of years, by providing MITS students with the opportunity to play club football with local Richmond kids. We can positively see the benefits for both the MITS students and the local junior players through the social interactions possible with children from beyond their normal social circles. Many strong friendships have been formed and the MITS kids have become an integral part of our young community.
We are very strong advocates of the programme being run by MITS, and you can find out more about their school here.
