Investing in our coaches

On Sunday 4 March, RJFC Coaching Coordinator, Craig Lake ran a comprehensive development workshop for our coaches at Alan Bain Reserve. This is all part of an on overall program to continue to invest in our fantastic group of volunteer coaches.

Approximately 30 of our experienced and aspiring coaches came along to the workshop, which started with a “Fundamentals of the game” practical session run by ex-AFL star Lindsay Gilbee. Lindsay ran our coaches through their paces – exposing their own fitness and skills gaps! – and provided a huge number of practical tips and guidance on running training drills, skills development, and game day advice. Unanimous feedback from the group was that it was incredibly valuable and we plan to have further sessions with Lindsay during the season.

The coaches then proceeded to a further session indoors to escape the heat, covering a wide range of topics in readiness for the season.

Thanks very much to all involved and to all our volunteers for giving up their Sunday afternoon and evening. Look out for news of further support for our coaching community throughout the season.
